Pharaoh - Wilbur Smith

EGYPT IS UNDER ATTACK.

Pharaoh Tamose lies mortally wounded. The ancient city of Luxor is surrounded, All seems lost.

Taita, advisor to the Pharaoh, prepares for the enemy’s final, fatal push. The ex-slave, now general of Tamose’s armies, is never more ingenious than when all hope is dashed. And this is Egypt’s most desperate hour.

I am not sure why but this is the first book I have read in the series, in fact I think this is the first book I have read by Wilbur Smith. I listened to the audiobook version and this may have been a mistake as in places I struggled to follow. This book was not unenjoyable but it did not grip me, so I struggled for how to rate it - in the end I stumbled for 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

I have one more book by Wilbur on my want to read list which I will complete before I make any judgement on whether I liked his writing style.
