Chloe and the Lion by Adam Rex, Mac Barnett

4.0

I love books who get all meta in the storyline.  This book is about Chloe and her adventure, yes, but it also about the writer Mac and the illustrator Adam learning to share the storytelling process - and maybe that Hank the other illustrator has a different style of art, and that's okay too.  Chloe and her story are shown in illustrations, but the author and illustrators are shown as little clay dolls, to stand out from the rest of the story, which was a useful and clever contrast method.  Overall, really funny book that I'm sure my kids would have hooted at when they were young.  (My teens may not sit still long enough for storytime with me now.)
