Another reread of this beauty was needed. Mariana Zapata is a comfort read for me, and this is one of my favourites of hers. It follows Diana who we meet in Wall Of Winnipeg And Me as she is Vanessa's best friend, this book takes place after the events of WOWAM as Diana's life has been flipped on its head after the sudden loss of her brother and she is now the sole guardian to her two nephews Josh & Louis. They move into a new home and the surly neighbour across the street Dallas happens to be Joshs new baseball coach, these two don't quite get off on the right foot but slowly build a friendship that turns into more.
The queen of the slow burn does a fantastic job with the character and relationship development, there is great banter and emotional moments, and the tension/chemistry build-up between these two was perfect for me. It's so great when characters from previous books make small cameos, and we get that here with Vanessa & Aiden from WOWAM, Iris & Dex from Under Locke & Sal & Reiner from Kulti This gives me all the warm and fuzzy feelings I was looking for, and as always, Callie Dalton is perfection in her delivery of Zapatas books. Loved it.
