I was surprised by how much I got into this based on how much I lacked investment in the beginning but I am excited to read on. I think this volume did a good job of establishing Thorfinn's motivation and the characters around him though I am unsure of how his story will progress through future volumes at this point. I like the juxtaposition of the somewhat naive image of Vinland with the harshness of Thorfinn and those around him's daily life and am intrigued by how this will be reincorporated into the story. Overall, an interesting start, though I will need to see a couple more really great volumes before I commit to saying this is a great story.
