The Monkey's Paw by W.W. Jacobs
4.0
3.5/5
Found my way to this book since it was mentioned in the Wonder Woman 1984 (2020) movie.
It's a great story and I appreciate the spooky tone it sets in just a few pages. However, what may have been considered as bone chilling more than a hundred years ago isn't really comparable to the truly sinister stories I've read/seen/heard in my lifetime.
Nevertheless, I gather that Monkey's Paw is the original material that has been adapted and re-told a hundred times over since then, so hats off to a story for staying relevant and holding its own a century later.
FYI, The book is freely available online in case anyone wants to read it.
