A Star Called Henry
by Roddy Doyle
Beautiful writing with poetic sometimes biting Irish delivery of the horrors of the poor in Dublin in the early 1900s, ala Frank McCourt on steroids. Loved the first half of the book and would favor 5 stars but...the last half dragged. He becomes a bicycle riding IRA assassin and I couldn't connect with any of the latter characters or escapades.
