Numbers Don't Lie: 71 Stories to Help Us Understand the Modern World by Vaclav Smil

2.0

I guess I expected a bit more from this book, however the explanation at the end about how the book was a collection of previously written blurbs that were grouped together in a book makes a lot more sense. I am just not entirely sure that they needed to become a book, in that the information provided wasn't nearly as robust as I think a book demands.

Little referencing. More of a commentary than a comprehensive or fair assessment of these topics. Many are ones I was already familiar with. I guess after having read many books on the climate crisis as well as Factfulness and having watched a fair amount of documentaries on these topics I don't feel like I learned a whole lot from this.

Not criminal but surely unsatisfying.
