Shattered Reflection by Madisyn Carlin
5.0

The author outdid herself here. It is a tad dark, but the world without the Lord is.
The unpleasantness is written very tastefully while still keeping it realistic and I admired that very much!

I do think this is my favorite work from the author thus far so forgive me some fangirling:
The development, pacing, plot and twist on the Ice Queen fairytale is fantastic and I definitely HAD to find out what happened next!! The characters dynamics and individuality superb! Some authors wouldn’t have let their characters suffer so much but it’s pushed realistically—things aren’t going to have a convenient solution every time, and there’s manipulation and war and suffering all over the world… the questions that came up throughout and crying out to the Lord was so powerful to me. The characters turning to the Lord was utmost throughout and that’s so important. It can be hard to get that right but it’s written so well!

My main issue was, though Nordica’s seeking the truth, seeking God was beautifully written, I can’t agree with all the details of the authors portrayal of salvation.
Second, how Marcus was treated in the end. Ahh! I wanted things to work out for him so badly! I‘m just definitely hoping that means his book, if it’s in the works, will be all the more worth it!

A few other points—
I loved Loren, Zinnia, and Anthia’s influence; showing Nordica hope in a hopeless situation. It portrayed how friendships can make such a difference.
Also, Breac being honest with Layree about the season of faith he was in, then Loren checking up on Breac’s intentions, especially about where he stood in his walk with God. That was a nice point because usually it’s a father who is the protector but siblings should absolutely care about that for their siblings too(especially of course realizing the twins had lost their father)!
I loved how the title tied in so much!! That scene with Loren and Nordica where it becomes clear really stands out!

It has it all: drama, dry humor, action, cheering for the relationships, redemption, dealing with hard, real-life stuff…

This is high on my list of stories that will stay with me!

Blessed to have been part of the beta reading team, working with several lovely, hilarious ladies!
I received a copy from the author in exchange for that service and an honest review. These thoughts are my own
