Second Cure, The by Margaret Morgan

I was recommended The Second Cure by the staff at Galaxy Bookshop in Sydney, after I requested fantasy novels that stand alone - not part of a series. And I am so glad that I did because this was excellent and as a rare treat I have not been left wanting more! This is properly hard-core science fiction, an imagined future that seems truly possible based on what we know now. The descriptions of the science are easy to digest, the descriptions of synaesthesia (of which there are many) are beautiful and intriguing. The story is compelling throughout, sad and happy and tense at various parts. A very very good book all round. Highly recommend it.
