The Castle of Otranto: A Gothic Story by Annie Pecastaings, Horace Walpole
3.0
Whilst I did enjoy this, it was by no means an easy read. Packed full of intrigue and drama - a lot of it despite this being a fairly short book.
It is quite dated and I did expect more from it. A book I imagine that caused a stir and captured imaginations but somewhat tame today. I guessed the big reveal from the start.
A fun read but not once I will likely revisit. It ended up being a complicated plot and more busy than it needed to be, especially once Jerome and Theodore get involved.
I would give it 2.5/5 so rounded up to 3/5
