The Project by Courtney Summers
3.0
This one fell a little short for me, but I think I had too high of expectations for it after reading [b:Sadie|34810320|Sadie|Courtney Summers|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1556559178l/34810320._SY75_.jpg|56026767]. I just didn't connect with the characters or the story in The Project like I did with Sadie.
My biggest complaint about the story is Lo's character development.
The book does have a few good things going for it though. First off, the topic was interesting. I think this is the first YA fiction book I've read about cults, so I appreciated the different subject matter. And true to Courtney Summers form, the plot is dark and twisted and has a shocking ending. If you're a fan of Courntey Summers or are really interested by cults, this one is worth a read.

Spoiler
She practically does a complete 180ยบ in the blink of an eye. I had such a hard time believing that, after years of fighting to find her sister and hating The Unity Project, she would just embrace Lev and the cult. Plus her whole relationship with Lev just made my skin crawl and I really hated that whole part. The book does have a few good things going for it though. First off, the topic was interesting.
