Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire

2.0

I actually really enjoyed Beautiful Disaster, and looked forward to reading the different perspective that this book claimed to offer. Unfortunately, I didn't feel that the author built enough different moments into the story, nor varied the perspective or voice enough to make it really engaging. I found myself skipping over many long sections of the book after realizing a great deal of it was essentially copied and pasted from the first novel. I think the author shows a lot of promise in the young adult realm, and I respect that she released this book for her fans, the most rabid of whom will still undoubtedly devour this story. I do think, though, that McGuire might have just waited for her next great story rather than rehashing the same story with minimal differences. The epilogue was enjoyable, however, so if she decides to repeat stories in the future, I'd suggest for the latter half of each she incorporate different pockets of time and moments that were offscreen in the first story.
