The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck
5.0
Audiobook.
I picked this book back up 11 years after it was required reading in high school. In college I mentioned to a professor how much I hated this book and he told me to pick it up when I was older, that I might find myself reconsidering.
He was right.
It’s hard to say I enjoyed this book since the content gave me anxiety, but I found myself talking about it to anyone who would listen.
The crisis the US faced then has so many parallels to our modern society. I think it’s an important read about community, hope, and the perils of both everyday greed and corporate greed. I’d be interested in seeing this be written from the POV of women and specifically POC.
