Apparently since I haven't read Ice Planet Barbarians yet I don't know how "horrible" this book really is. However, I enjoyed it. This is my second alien romance author so I guess I'm still a newbie, but I also don't expect a "classic" to come from alien romances ;) :)

While the Kalaxians are trying to escape their own captivity and revenge previous attacks on their people, Tordax sees Rose and saves her, hoping she will be the first "Irisa" or fated mate for Kalaxians since all of their females of childbearing age were killed. I liked their relationship. Rose seemed to be trying to help out as best she could in the beginning and that progressed to her risking her life to distract their captors from the Kalaxians and other kidnapped Earth women. It takes her a bit to adjust to the idea of being a fated mate for Tordax, but they end up having a HFN, and the end of this book leads into the next featuring Tordax's second in command and another woman from the ship. That woman, Harper, seemed to be the most obnoxious and annoying in this book so we'll see if she redeems herself in book 2 but I'll keep reading the series.

Maybe when I finally get to Ice Planet Barbarians I'll see why this book was so awful ;)
