I think the last time I had a book punch me in the gut like this was A Man Called Ove. V.E Schwab leads us through the magnificent and also tortured life of Addie LaRue, and along the way shows us what it means to be human. Luc, Addie, and Henry are far from perfect. Especially Henry, β€œYou can never be satisfied!” constantly echoed in my head. ⁣
⁣
But isn’t that what it’s like to be human? To desire, whether it to be remembered or to be seen as enough? To have our faults and navigate the twists and turns of life with them? To turn curses into blessings? To have blessings turn into curses?⁣
⁣
The final most important note is I adore Addie as a protagonist. Someone who picks the right thing even when it’s hard? Against their own self interest? We don’t get enough of stories like this. Is she a role model? Debatable. Perfect? Absolutely not. ⁣
⁣
One thing she is forever to me, though? Memorable. ⭐️⁣
