This is a brilliant book, very funny in places and shocking in others., though fiction feels like it comes direct from the lived experiences of women, who lived during the 50's and 60's. Elizabeth is an amazing character, someone who tells it like it is and not the nonsense version that means, 'is horrible to other people', but points out how society treats people and the nonsense social constructions that have been built to lift medicore men, into positions of power, whilst dimishing women.

All the characters were human but brilliantly realised, the terrible men in the book felt like two dimensional stand ins for the terrible men of the period, and I internally cheered whenever they were shown up. I really enjoyed the internal monologues of six thirty, and Mad as a baby, and there were very funny moments.

Well worth a read.
