Usually when I finish a book I’ll be deep in thought, shocked, immersed, crazed possibly - I don’t know! But my only thought after this was:
‘…What???’
I try my best not to let my emotions be all too controlling when reviewing a book but good god?!
Okay, truthfully, I think what really aggravated me was the way I could picture a man genuinely feeling all these things and taking some form of pride in these awful actions and thoughts.
The writing wasn’t remotely even good. If you had shown me this book and said that an edgelord teenage boy wrote this book to relieve his fantasy frustrations I would fully believe you.
Tiktok overhyped this book saying it was genius and such which is obviously bull. Sure, it has shock value and quite an audience but let’s not lie here; it’s bad. I want to give it some benefit and call it ‘entertaining’ at the very least but truthfully it really isn’t either. In fact I had to force myself to finish the book just in case it could redeem itself! Evidently, it hasn’t.

On a semi good note:
I’m not a fan of cursing when it is unnecessary but every time this book included one it did in some shape or form did add to the protagonist; letting us, the readers, see him the tiniest bit more. He was troubled, angry, distressed - those were the reasoning of him being the way he was. Is it an excuse? NO! But its reasoning and I did like that. Maybe this was just me and wasn’t so much of the author’s writing but I like being able to understand and empathise with a character without feeling any real sense of pity. He doesn’t deserve any, anyway.
