It is hard to tell what to think about this one as compared to the other ones. Is this the only book that actually tells the truth? And how much of the other books were written by Rose rather than by Laura? Certainly this book is a lot rougher - which makes sense - since it was an unpolished manuscript. It definitely made the frontier farming life look quite uninviting. But it did have some of the detailed description of that life, that made some of the other books interesting.
