The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King
by Carissa Broadbent
I just did not click with this series in the slightest. The only good thing in these books is Raihn (I could click with him).
Oraya is violently lacking in any personality, there’s no exploration of how the world actually works outside of the castle walls, all the vampires (apart from Raihn) are horrendous, and there’s literally no explanation of how the magic system works in this book which is really frustrating.
Also have some real issues with how this vampire society is set up because it’s completely fucking ridiculous that nobody wants to reproduce or nurture their kids because they consider them a threat, yet vampires die at a significant rate throughout both books. Make it make sense.
