The premise is very interesting and the evaluation of the effects of sins on the soul and body were fascinating. Also, there were some good bits of philosophy throughout. However, the characters are all horrible, the work is definitely a piece of its time as it is wrought with very very misogynistic statements as well as racist, classist, and very British colonialist views. Additionally, if you are not familiar with the British aristocracy and their babbling you may find this rather intolerable.
