The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

4.0

As fantasy novels go, this one manages to be extremely solid without breaking any particularly new ground. The storytelling flows along nicely, and the first-person narration definitely gives it a voice. To the extent there is a weakness, it is not unfair to point out that very little actually happens with regard to the plot -- we have world building aplenty, but this is Vol. 1 of the Kingkiller Chronicle and we didn't even hear mention of a king whatsoever. It's an enjoyable read, a fun world, and certainly a series I'll be continuing on with.
