The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson

I had never before heard of this book. Every now and then I visit the website of Erin Morgenstern, author of Night Circus. She has a very eclectic reading list so here and there I'll pick something she's reading. This is an example.

This is probably one of the most fascinating books I've "read" (audiobook) in a long time. I in no way want to rush this experience. I've enjoyed every tale Marianne tells. The author writes with such vivid description. The accident and burn patient’s torture and recovery and care were described so masterfully.

I was nervous when his profession was in the porn industry. I don’t much care for gratuitous sexual imagery in novels but it wasn’t the case here. His profession and impact the accident thus had on him made so much sense for this character.

I’m not quite done yet and just look forward to every time I can resume this book. I can’t imagine it disappointing from here. I hope it doesn’t at least.
