A Lake of Feathers and Moonbeams by Dax Murray

4.0

Once I was browsing through Reddit and stumbled upon this one. The author was looking for honest thoughts about her book, it was a fantasy LGBTQ, something I have never tried before.. So I was intrigued and asked for a copy.. My request was granted!!! And she was generous enough to sign it up for me!!! I was floored ❤

 Thank you, Dax Murray!!

As I have mentioned earlier, I have never read a LGBTQ book, and truly I was eagar to find out if I like it or not. To my surprise, I really did enjoy Katya and Zhen’s easy relationship. Also this book sports polyamorous relationships, that I have no idea how to respond. Because sharing someone I love with someone else have never been on my goodbook. But I know there are a lot of polyamorous people who would be able to relate to this and finally find them in a story they can relate to!!

There are also some confusions I faced during my journey with this book, which is mainly with the pronouns. “Alexis” was often referred as “they”, “their”, “them”, which really did confuse me at places first. Than there was “xir” and “xie”, which is still confusing..

Other than these, the writing style kept me hooked till the last page. The truth about Katya came as a shock to me. And in the first few chapters I really did fall in love with the Ivan character, so loving and caring.. So the final few chapters made me halt on my tracks and I didn’t know what to think or whom to believe anymore… Cleverly done, I must say!!

What I really did enjoy about this book is how in that world no one has to "Come Out". If you are a girl and like a girl, its as natural as you liking a boy, as it should be..

Though unrelatable, I really did enjoy the experience. Its kind of a more than 3 stars but less than 4 star book for me.. Therefor “A Lake of Feathers and Moonbeams” got 3.5/5 stars....
