After reading Halo, I was really curious to see what a book about Emil would hold. I liked what I got to know of his character in that book, and I just fell in love with him completely in this book. This sad, broken man made a promise to himself to be a better person and even though the steps he needed to take were really, really difficult, he did it. He faced his demons and was rewarded with an awesome new friend in Dahlia, and the opportunity too find happily ever after with Renzo. I adored Renzo's character, too, and his love and devotion to his brother. Matty's character brought so much to this story, and every part he was in made me smile. The fact that Emil met him as Santa was super sweet, and I loved their mug painting scene so much. Renzo wasn't willing to allow anyone into his heart who couldn't love Matty, too, and he didn't have to worry about that with Emil. Both Emil and Renzo had a lot of trauma to work through, but they were still able to see how special their connection was, and I was really rooting for them the whole way. This book was super emotional, super steamy, and a with every E.M. Lindsey book I've ever read, super great.
