The Silver Star by Jeannette Walls

Another fast read, but this book felt like it started off as one book and then morphed into another. I didn't like the somewhat put upon racial relations that never really went anywhere. It never had any resolution or true conflict. It made me wonder why it was included other than to liken the story to To Kill A Mockingbird. That was weak, the strong sister changing from someone who had been accepted and who had fit in at one school to be a pariah at the new school? It didn't read true. I liked the voice of the little girl. The mom never learned nor did she get on medication. It is one thing when writing a memoir, but with fiction, the liberties she could have taken, she didn't.
