I found the first book a bit confusing to read as there was so much world building and tiny important details to follow. The second book was just as full of tiny important details and continued world building, but it became easier to follow as the pieces began to click into place. I do think this is a series I will need to reread to fully grasp the intricacies of the world and magic systems. But overall it was a very intriguing read with a complex plot that had only a few moments of predictability. There was a lot of secrecy and sometimes it was difficult to remember who knew what and who was involved in certain plot threads. But Morrigan beginning to understand her knack and power and how to use it really helped propel the story forward, and the relationships that continued developing were endearing.
