Obama: An Intimate Portrait
by Pete Souza
I should have read this one in reverse...
That said this is such a wonderful work of photojournalism. I was expecting excellent photos, as I am familiar with Souza's work, but what I wasn't expecting was just how fascinating it was to read through this book. Reading it, really immersing myself in it, lended such a unique view into this president and this moment in time. It was particularly interesting seeing so many familiar faces and knowing where some of those stories would go now years later. I'm into politics so getting to see so many behind the scenes moments was engrossing. If you ever wondered what it would have been like to be the fly on a wall for those eight years wonder no more - Souza was the invisible man in the room capturing every moment.
