Beyond the Bright Sea by Lauren Wolk

4.0

Baby Crow washed up on an island off the east coast and was taken in by Osh, a man who has isolated himself from society and lives off the land. Now twelve years old, Crow has been raised by Osh and their neighbor Miss Maggie, but she can no longer just wonder where she came from--she needs answers. Little does she know that her answers are just a boat ride away as she unravels her personal mystery. There is so much love in this book and I really love how the entire story came together to define family. Tearing up as I write this! Happy that this book isn't as uncomfortable and heart-wrenching as Wolf Hollow.

Middle school.
