Captured Heart by Heather McCollum

4.0

Set in 16th century Scotland Heather McCollum's writing is able to vividly transport us with imagery and characters that draw you in and make you feel like your in the Highlands with them.

Anyone who is a healer in this time period had reason to fear that they could be accused of witchcraft and tortured and burned, Meg has even more reason than most because not only had her mother been accused and burned as a witch but she has a little extra gift that makes her fear for her life.

Caden is the Macbain her feels the responsibly of making sure his people have enough to eat and are safe weighing heavily on his shoulders, he never counted on falling for the woman he captured to use as a pawn.

I found Captured Heart to be well written, historically accurate and a fantastic story. The writing makes you feel like you can see the loch's, the moors, and feel the love, tension and concern of the characters involved. Caden and Meg are both put into situations that have huge ramifications for the clan as well as themselves.
We have danger lurking not only from the English and other clans but also from within the clan itself. As with many historicals this is a long book (401 pages) but the action and the story compels you through the story and you don't have a lot of drag the flow is there and it works well.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review
