Faking Under the Mistletoe by Ashley Shepherd is a perfect Christmas read featuring a wish-you-were-her (but slightly more perky than I could ever be) protagonist, Olivia, and a totally swoon-worthy male lead, Asher (who definitely lists among my book boyfriend crushes).

I’ve been putting off reading this one until I was in a more Christmas mood, but once I started, I was totally obsessed with the story from the first chapter and finished the book in just a few hours, ignoring all other responsibilities in favor of completing it.

It has all the romantic aspects you could wish for — fake-dating, (sort of) hate-to-love — and all the Christmasy tropes that make holiday movies the best, while also dealing with some more serious issues (tw: sexual assault & death). There’s also some steamy moments but nothing that couldn’t be skimmed over, if you object to that sort of thing!

I really enjoyed this one and definitely recommend Faking Under the Mistletoe for a cozy weekend read! I’m looking forward to reading everything Shepherd writes and hope she has another book out soon!
