The Year of Living Biblically: One Man's Humble Quest to Follow the Bible as Literally as Possible by A.J. Jacobs

3.0

This was an enjoyable experience, if not a particularly memorable one now, a month after. I think, as I read, that a lot of things Jacobs mulls over about religion, religiousity and religious practice did strike a chord in me, but they weren't earth shattering realisations. But it just confirmed a lot for me about how personal and odd religion can be, and maybe it was a bit reassuring to read about someone else's struggle between wanting the security that religious lifestyles can bring while questioning a lot of the (conservative?) ideas that give those lives that stability. Even if he was coming from a completely different angle than myself. Anyway, his writing remains lighthearted and easy to read, while managing to connect on some emotional level.
