Lover Eternal by J.R. Ward

3.5

If you didn't know I love vampire books. Add in a romance and I love it even more. I read the first book in this series 2 years ago and had planned on continuing with the series. I didn't mean to wait 2 years between books but there are so many books and not enough time to read everything I want to read. So far, I've only read the first 2 books and the first one was better in my opinion. I did enjoy this one but there was something about it that didn't work for me, and I can't really put my finger on what that something is.

This book follows Rhage. He is part of the Black Dagger Brotherhood who are a group of vampire warriors who protect the weaker vampires. I say weaker but they're really not weak. Anyways this is his story and his romance. I loved that Rhage was not only a vampire, but he also turned into a dragon because of a curse that was put on him. I also love the fact that the vampires in this series don't feed on humans. They can feed on humans but it's not as nutritious as the blood of the women of their kind. I thought that was a unique take on vampires.

As for Rhage and Mary's love story I did love it. It was steamy and sweet but at the same time Mary accepted things way too quickly that it didn't seem very believable. Honestly, I don't really have much to say about this book. I enjoyed it and I still want to continue with the series but this one wasn't my favorite.
