Call Me By Your Name
by André Aciman
I wanted to give this much more love, much more attention. Had I read it when I was younger, I might appreciate it better.
The reading experience was not too bad, but at some points—annoyed. I had to perpetually remind myself that this is written from a seventeen year old boy point of view, who was in a process of transitioning..evolving into an adult —discovering his needs and wants. And he met Oliver, a whole adult, his summer guest. He likes him. Obsessing over him and the idea of the intimacy.
I too, was seventeen once and I’m sure I was that annoying. Possibly similarly annoying, passionately, stupidly smitten..crushing hard on someone.
I finally gets why this one has gotten praises. Beautifully written, even in disturbing parts, awakening but not my five stars read.
