An excellent primer on longtermism, what it consists of, and why it matters. I thought the last section — on what humanity could accomplish if we get our house in order — was the best part, not to mention an uplifting way to end a book about catastrophic risk.

This could be a good intro to Effective Altruism for the right person, for example someone who already has some understanding of a given longtermism cause area. Some material will be review for Effective Altruists already familiar with longtermism, but it’s still absolutely worth the read.

Note: the audiobook does not include the endnotes or the appendices. It’s a choose-your-own-adventure kind of thing if you want to get real, real nerdy.
