johanh 's review for:
Gerald's Game
by Stephen King
I knew going in to this that the story - given that it pretty much only has one character - would take place in the mind of the main character, so I didn't find that surprising. What I did find surprising were the plot holes:
The most interesting part of the story also happens to be the only part where I wasn't sure I'd be able to finish the book, namely. Gruesome stuff.
I have to say, at times it seemed like King was struggling a bit to come up with something interesting, at least in the middle.
But all in all, not King's best but certainly not his worst.

Her legs weren't tied up. What stopped her from lifting her legs up above her head and using her feet to kick the handcuffs off her hands?! You don't need to be particularly limber for that. It is possible to get out of a pair of handcuffs without destroying your arms - you just need force and leverage, which is why it's also a pretty good idea to it before you're too physically weak. I seriously thought the woman was gonna die, given the fact that it took her way too long to get desperate enough to do what was needed to get out. And when she finally realizes how far she needs to go, she goes overboard with it and unnecessarily risks her life. The most interesting part of the story also happens to be the only part where I wasn't sure I'd be able to finish the book, namely
