The Masnavi: Book One by Jawid Mojaddedi, Rumi

inspiring reflective fast-paced

5.0

a surprisingly easy to read allegory about the soul, the world, and how we connect with allah. through short tales connected to quranic symoblism, rumi dives into the core of our beings and guides us through each layer, creating what feels almost like a user manual of the spirit and how it fits in relation to the rest of existence. he peels back the tough skin of our visible reality and shows us the fluid infinite beneath it, how our lives are nothing but flotsam on the water of allah's creation. rumi forces us to acknowledge our own smallness, our own comforting insignificance, and how our experiences are nothing but the shadows allah's rays cast when they hit our forms.
