Half-Moon Investigations by Eoin Colfer

3.0

While initially disappointed at the tone of this book, mainly because I expected another Artemis Fowl, I eventually grew to enjoy it. It was Noir-ish enough to be funny and keep me interested but not so much that it became unbelievable this was a 12-year-old speaking. And the plot did tend to get a little ridiculous. I can’t really reveal HOW ridiculous without giving away some of the mysteries, but let’s just say I can’t really see this happening in our world. Anyway. Colfer has done a great job moving away from Fowl, and embracing another near-teen who doesn’t quite seem to fit in.
