A Storm of Swords: Blood and Gold by George R.R. Martin

this started off a little slow, i wasn't that interested in anything that was going on, i couldn't really remember where the last book had ended, but THEN, then everything started happening and everyone started dying and it became much more interesting.

because the red wedding happens at the end of series 3 and this is the third book technically i thought it would happen somewhere near the end, and that a lot of the following events/deaths wouldn't happen until the next book, but nope, they got thrown at me chapter after chapter and left me reeling.

i really like getting to see the reactions of the characters spread all over the place of the things that have taken place in a chapter or so before, like arya's disbelief that sansa could be accused of such a thing, and stannis and co's reaction to the two weddings.

i was trying to finish this before i go on holiday tomorrow so i skimmed daenerys' chapters mostly. they're always my least favourite. i really dislike tyrion now so i wasn't really interested in his either even though so much action was there. the last few chapters of jon were good as they chose the next lord commander, i liked them.
