This is book 3/24 for 2024. The Setting Sun has everything I liked about No Longer Human, and doesn’t have the few “bad” things that made me hold back on giving NLH a 5 star. I absolutely love the way Dazai writes his books. This was the first book I’ve ever read in under a week. Dazai gives great insight on how Japan was after the war. I absolutely loved main characters, Kazuko and Mother and I was absolutely gutted after another passed and Naoji decided to end his life…
This’ll definitely go down as one of my favorite books of all time as of right now.

Moderate: Suicide
Minor: War
There was minor talk of War, but nothing was graphic.
