I just could not got into Skin Game. I don’t know if it was just a case of the wrong book at the wrong time—probably at least in part, since it was a library hold I needed to finish even though I was not really in the mood for a Dresden adventure—or if it was my general indifference to Nicodemus and the Denarians. Or maybe still just the comedown from Changes and Ghost Story.
Still, Skin Game is a decently plotted and executed heist story with some neat Dresden-style twists. I wish it had picked some more interesting characters from Harry’s rogues gallery, but it’s still fairly fun to follow Harry’s shenanigans. And I did love the ways Skin Game managed to incorporate some of the side characters we haven’t gotten to spend much time with recently.
Skin Game: 3.5 stars
