I’ve been reading this on and off for the past few months, trying to savor the characters and their story while being terrified that I would end up disappointed. I don’t usually read sequels because I fear that they won’t live up to their predecessor. Thankfully, this was not that kind of sequel.
There was so much going on in this book, but in a way where it was able to get its own footing and set its own focus, while doing Raybearer justice. I think the story was excellently crafted and one I got to the second half, I couldn’t put it down. There are so many layers to Tarasai and Aristar and even though this is a duology, I wouldn’t mind revisiting this world in another one of Jordan Ifueko’s novels.
