Did not finish book. Stopped at 49%.

Started off with a very promising plot but it started to lose its shine along the way. The author writes really beautiful prose though, so I may have finished it if not for the whole animal ritual business. Wasn’t feeling that aspect of the story at all and it looked like it was a huge part of what the plot would eventually lead up to.
