A brilliant gem of a translation by Heaney that brings home the themes and worries of Antigone for a modern audience — I enjoyed the translation greatly, Antigone's fury and despair in the bones, and could hear echoes of today's worst in Creon's speeches. It reads well as poetic drama, but equally plausible as speech, and should I be given the opportunity, it would perform very well.
