Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe is my go-to comfort book, and I knew that I had to read this unexpected follow-up. Nostalgia always plays a big role in Flagg's books, and it works well for me as a longtime reader. Even minor characters feel like real people, and Flagg manages to give us updates on many of our favorites from the FGT as well as tie ins to other characters from other books, such as Minnie Oatman. Although life has its sorrows, Flagg always manages to make you feel positive about the overall outlook of things by the end of her books, and this one is no different. I'm sure there's plenty to pick apart, but honestly during this time when the world has felt pretty topsy turvy due to Covid-19, I have no interest in swearing the small stuff. If you are a fan of FGT, then I highly recommend this book to you.
