This book has a slow pace that I enjoyed very much.
Like the previous one, the setting has an important part in the story: we're in the wonderful Newfoundland and with every hike Arthur and Trevor do, we get to appreciate its beauty and all the animals that live there. I liked very much all the facts that Arthur tell about birds, it was like seeing them through his eyes.
Arthur is an amazing man who built a life for himself where he could feel safe and do his job in peace; he set a routine for himself that helped him prevent any stressful situations. Unfortunately, even with that kind of structure and planning, something unexpected can still happen and it was hard to see Arthur struggle and suffer because of overwhelming situations. I think the author did a very realistic portrait of all those difficulties.
Trevor is a gem: he's caring, thoughtful, affectionate, honest, just the right man who could make Arthur feeling safe and loved.
I adored how they bonded over a little bird and how slowly gravitated towards each other; I appreciate the simplicity of their relationship, spending time together hiking or just watching the sky from the patio.
I also liked very much the physical development and the fact that Trevor never pushed Arthur for more than he could give.
Trevor's friends are amazing and supportive, they always tried to make Arthur feel comfortable and they were genuinely interested in building a friendship with him too.
The main character of the next book seems very interesting and I look forward to read his book.
Very recommended.
I received an ARC of this book from the author and this is my honest review
