As the third book in this series, I had higher hopes that the author would have figured a few things out. Unfortunately for us, the readers, that is not the case.
Once again, there were parts of this book that felt like they were trying to be Anne Rice's Beauty stories. The characters remain flat, and their motivations, passions, dreams, and desires remain unexplored. We are *told* so much and *shown* very little.
The world-building gets even more confusing in this story. Suddenly, there are multiple realms! Some portals connect all of them! People have been kidnapped by all of them, and the demon king secretly has something over everyone even though he's terrified and weak. None of it makes sense. None of it is explained or developed.
While not the worst books I've read, these aren't good.
