Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams

4.0

I really really really wanted to like this book more than I did. It definitely wasn't a bad read at all, I just thought I could have gotten a little more from it. It was interesting and enjoyable, and it gave me the opportunity to see the world from a different perspective.
I found the main character, Queenie, to be frustrating, tiresome, and all-around annoying. I don't think you're supposed to like her. She isn't supposed to be there to please you, but rather share a more realistic life experience, what life is like for a Jamaican Black woman living in London. But still, it was exhausting to read from her perspective.
On the whole, the writing was good, the characters were well-rounded, and it was a good opportunity to see the world, mental health struggles, and a new perspective to me.
3.5/5 stars, gave it the half for Goodreads since it doesn't deserve a three.
