 4 Stars ⭐️

Picked this book up on a whim and was pleasantly surprised.
A divided nation where each sector has very generic theming and its citizens each have a role to play. The only two quadrants we interact with are Toria and Eonia which strongly remind me of Ketterdam from Six Of Crows and The Society from The Giver.
I hate to admit it but I didn't connect with the queens at all. I found their chapters quite dull and found myself racing to finish them.
I quite liked Varin and Mackiel was entertainingly unhinged. Keralie however was a very generic thief.
This book would have been five stars except I wasn't impressed by the ending. Everything after Mackiel's reveal when Keralie was in the dungeon just made me roll my eyes.
Mind control chips and some power crazed girl we've never heard of? Mmm okay then.
