Secret Obsession by S. Massery
2.0

I have read the last two books in this hockey series and decided to this give this one a try. Honestly, it was very repetitive from the last two. Self absorbed male character who doesn't give the FMC a choice in being with him. He takes control of her life by first committing murder on her behalf and making her an accomplice. Ah, love. His psychotic decision led to both of them being stalked by the dead guy's brother. Then the male lead sexually assaults her, but tells her that all roads were going to lead to this for them. The FMC is a hot mess just like the others in the last two books. She's drunk the majority of the book and then is able to quit cold turkey, yeah that's definitely not believable. She's reeling from her ex humiliating her in public, then she loses her spot on the dance team. I don't understand why those are problems that require alcohol to drown her sorrows. There were some sub plots that were just unnecessary like the male lead having her friends on the dance team shun and bully the FMC. It didn't go anywhere.

Its a shame that the stories are so repetitive to each other because the writing is very good and keeps you engaged and interested. I just don't understand why the male characters are so brutal. It's kind of a cliché now for these stories.

I recommend the second book in the series, Steele and Aspen. Read the others at your own risk.
