The Complete Maus by Art Spiegelman

challenging dark emotional reflective medium-paced

4.5

I can't believe this book is being banned in some places. I heard of that but then saw this in a small local bookstore and I knew I had to buy it. I love how this showed in detail what it was like to live as a Jewish person during WWII in Poland. Vladek was lucky in many ways but also very resourceful. I also enjoyed how you can see it affected Art himself who was born after the war and Art and Vladek's relationship. Vladek gets a lot of characterization in this and I enjoyed that. Making this into a graphic novel was great. Seeing some of the atrocities shown was hard to see but this is a hard topic.
